Prague by Jane Redmond, Janaway Travel
As the year comes to a close, my last city break of 2024 took me to the enchanting city of Prague—and it turned out to be my favorite. This stunning destination, rich in history, architecture, and culture, offers a perfect combination of beauty, affordability, and convenience.
The Journey
Getting to Prague is a breeze. With a short flight time of just 1 hour and 55 minutes, followed by a quick 25-minute transfer to the city center, it’s ideal for a stress-free getaway.
The Perfect Stay
I stayed at K&K Central, a hotel perfectly located just a 7-minute walk from the Old Town Square. The convenience of being so close to the heart of the city made exploring effortless and enjoyable.
A City Full of Splendours
Prague is a feast for the senses. Its numerous squares, statues, and historic buildings line charming cobblestone streets, creating a magical atmosphere. The abundance of shops, restaurants, and barsensures there’s something for everyone.
One of the best aspects of Prague is its excellent value for money. Whether it’s dining, shopping, or sightseeing, you’ll find plenty of options that suit your budget without compromising on quality.
Exploring Iconic Sites
Prague is a walking city, and its compact layout makes it easy to navigate on foot. Some of the iconic landmarks I visited included:
• Wenceslas Square – A vibrant boulevard steeped in history.
• Prague Castle – A sprawling complex offering breathtaking views of the city.
• The Powder Tower – A Gothic marvel with a rich past.
• Charles Bridge – Perhaps the most iconic of all, this historic bridge is a photographer’s dream.
Weather and Atmosphere
The weather during my visit was just right—cool but not too cold, with occasional flurries of snow adding a festive charm. The mix of bright sunshine and crisp air made exploring the city even more enjoyable.
Why Prague?
If you’re looking for a city break that combines good food, an endless list of things to see and do, and doesn’t break the bank, Prague is the perfect choice. Its magical charm, affordability, and variety make it a destination I’d highly recommend.
For me, Prague wasn’t just a trip—it was an experience, and one I can’t wait to relive in the future.
