I was privileged to be given the opportunity to Visit Fiji from the Inspiring Travel Co and the Fijian tourist board.
10 nights and 4 Islands:
3 nights Denarau
2 nights Likiliku
2 nights Nanuku
3 nights Vomo
So , already I can hear your thoughts “ its such a long way” and yes your right – it is , but my oh my it’s so worth it.
I took the route London to San Francisco (11 hours) 4 hours on the ground and you need it , then another 10.5 onto Nadi.
BULA , this is the most used word in the Fijian language , it covers hello , hope your well and welcome.
Arrival in Nadi and the guitars are out , the beads and necklaces are plentiful and the smiles and warmth. – Not only from the people but the humidity , I knew it was going to be tropical and wet but it really was a constant 27 Degrees.
Bags collected and the fabulous Rosie Tours were there to meet you , beautiful air conditioned SUV car awaits and 25 minutes I arrive on our first Island – Denarau .
Denarau is all palm trees , shopping , a good choice of hotels and the amazing Port – to which all the ferries leave to take you off to the paradise Islands – Castaway , Southsea Islands, Likuliku, Vomoand so many more.
I stayed 3 nights in the Hilton Hotel , large resort hotel , lovely pool area , restaurants – varied rooms , some even with a washing machine and tumble dryer which is great to know if you’re travelling around and don’t want to take much luggage.
The Bula bus takes you all around stopping at the various hotels and to the port , where there are many restaurants and bars and a real buzz about the place - £6.00 and the ticket lasts all day , so you can go visit the different hotels , have lunch or go shopping and return later for dinner.
Before we knew it our time was up and I was leaving for Likuliku , the ferry crossing took 1.45 and in the middle of the pacific the ferry stops and a little speed boat arrives and whisks you off , again the people are in great voice to meet you , this hotel instantly reminded me of NO NEWS NO SHOES – old Maldivian type holiday , you could instantly sense the calmness , tranquillity and relaxation we were about to encounter , food was lovely , pool area , gym and spa services are all possible – my lovely room had its own little pool and the Sunset from my day bed with a glass in my hand is a feeling and a memory I will treasure forever.
2 nights later and we are off again – back to the mainland , onto the Coral coast and to Nanuku , the 3 hour car transfer was very pleasant we got to see more of the country and our lovely driver was very kind and allowed a stop on route for some snacks etc.
Nanuku , large rooms , your own bicycles – 3 miles of resort to explore , daily games , large pool area and a great bar tender serving up some wonderful cocktails – unfortunately the weather here for us was terrible so we didn’t get to do too much but we were on our holidays so book number 2 was finished.
Our last Island Vomo – for me the best was saved for last . The weather helped as no sooner as we arrived we had sunshine , the hotel has a really modern vibe to it , lovely grounds a pitch and put golf course , 2 sides of beach so no matter what time of the day you could swim , snorkel and go off diving. Vomo as a large coral reef and offers lots of daily dives alongside a great watersports centre.
The food here which was an Asian inspired menu was some of the best food we tasted throughout our stay and we didn’t have a bad meal at any time.
Anybody who visits New Zealand or Australia should not miss a trip here – 3 days can feel like a week and it’s so close.
I could go on and on and tell you more because Fiji is so much more than this blog but I suggest you call me , email or just pop in to learn more.
