Some of you may know from reading my past blogs , myself and three friends started the ABC holidays 9 years ago – this was our way of working round the Alphabet – a place , country - home or abroad.
This year we were at I – we chose Italy and the beautiful city of Florence.
Where do I start ? Firstly we were diverted to Pisa Airport due to weather in Florence and for us that was a bonus – we jumped in a taxi to see the leaning tower of Pisa before enjoying lunch and a bottle of wine – what a way to start our trip .
One hour from Pisa on the train you arrive in the centre of Florence and our hotel was walking distance Palazzo Castri 1874 – lovely hotel with a little spa area.
Saturday was our day to walk Florence and boy did we – we saw all the delights of this fabulous city – The Duomo , Ponte Vecchio bridge , Uffizi Gallery , Accademia , Basilica of Santa Croce , Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens.
We ate the best food , drank some wonderful cocktails and the most gorgeous wines and that’s not forgetting the shops – OMG I didn’t realise.
We did a quick site visit at the Hotel Brunelleschi and this hotel is set right in the centre of town , a Michelin star restaurant and some quirky rooms , truly an iconic hotel that has its own museum underneath its foundations.
